Located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains, at 179km from Marbella (2 hours drive), Granada offers unforgettable experiences and indescribable places for you to discover. It holds the most famous building of the Andalusian Islamic historical heritage, the world renowned Alhambra, a Moorish citadel and palace, together with TheGeneralife, an amazing garden attached to the Alhambra, an oasis of tranquility for the Granadan Muslim kings.
But Granada offers much more than that. Having been the favorite city of the Catholic Monarchs, in the Old Town you’ll see impressive monuments like the cathedral of Granada, the Royal Chapel or SanJerónimo Monastery. Also you can enjoy Granada’s historical streets with a great variety of shops and handicraft workshops where you can witness the construction of guitars and remarkable works of clay, ceramics, wood or leather.

For this tour, a 5* air conditioned bus will pick you up from your location or from an agreed meeting point very close to where you stay and will take you to the final destination. The pick-up hour will depend on your location so we’ll tell you the exact hour when you book the tour. On the way, you’ll have a guide who will provide useful information in different languages. On your arrival, the guide will tell you the schedule and the final meeting point. After the tour is over you will have some free time but it is very important that you respect the meeting hour for departure. The group will reunite again at the meeting point at the agreed hour for departure and the bus will take you back to the initial pick up point next to your home.

Alhambra tour

The Alhambra, a Moorish citadel and palace declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984, is Granada’s most emblematic monument and one of the most visited in Spain. The Alhambra represents a network of richly adorned palaces and perfectly manicured gardens. It was in the 13th century, with the arrival of the first monarch of the Nasrid dynasty, that the Alhambra became palace, citadel and fortress, and was the residence of the Nasrid sultans and their senior officials, including servants of the court and elite soldiers.

The palace of Carlos V

In 1527 Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor, demolished part of the architectural complex of Alhambra to build the palace which bears his name. At present, the palace of Carlos V is the site of the Alhambra Museum, the Fine Arts Museum on the top floor and the Alhambra Museum on the ground floor.

Generalife

This was a palace and a place of leisure surrounded by orchards and gardens that was separate from the Alhambra, used by the Nasrid sultans as a place of rest and retreat particularly in the summer months. The Generalife is one of the oldest surviving Moorish gardens.

La Alcaicería

The Alcaicería it is called the place of the cities of al-Andalus, where silk was traded. After that, the activity was extended to the sale of objects made of silk and become known as the market for all textile products, although silk remained the primary object for sale. Today, the old site keeps the same name, La Alcaicería, and is a commercial area consisting of small souvenir shops, preserving traces of the Arab souks, and some memories of the bustling activity of the Nasrid silk market.

Catedral de Granada

As is the case of most Christian buildings in Granada, the Cathedral was built on the site of the former Nasrid Great Mosque of Granada together with the Royal Chapel, the Sagrario, and the Merchants’ Exchange. The work on the cathedral lasted 180 years, from the 15th of March 1523 until 1704.

Capilla Real

The Royal Chapel is an outstanding and unique funeral chapel, next to Granada’s cathedral. The Catholic Monarchs, ordered it to be built as their final resting place. In it are buried the Catholic Monarchs, their daughter Joanna of Castile and Philip I of Castile.
